This confession came from the reflection of Psalm 19:9b-11.
This confession came from the reflection of Psalm 19:9b-11.

The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: And in keeping of them there is great reward.

—Psalm 19:9b–11

The reflection I did on these verses in my book Confessions for the Narrow Road: a Journey with My Mom, talked about trusting in the commandments of the Lord and I detailed out those commandments noting that Jesus came and gave us a new commandment: to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself. I wanted to highlight one other thing from this reflection before I share my thoughts on how it impacts me today. I was struck by what the commandments teach us about God - He desires love and harmony. He wants us to be at peace with Him, with others and I'll add, with ourselves.

As far as how this impacts me today, I just wrote an entry this week in my journal about Loving the Triune God. I believe I have been blessed with the understanding that being tethered to God and partnering with Him throughout the whole of my life and following His guidance is the way to love God with all my heart. It's to choose His way over every other way, because I know that it's always the best way. To love Him is to honor Him and to give Him preference in my life and let Him choose the direction I should go. And when I do that, I experience the fullness of His pleasure and love for me and that makes it possible for me to love others with the love He's poured out on me. As I see myself the way He sees me, I can receive His love for me and turn that inward to love myself. All of that love is what we are here to experience. God desired all along to invite us into this intimate, love relationship with Him and the sooner we realize that and turn to Him, the sooner we will begin to experience that love and begin to give it away. We can become a channel whereby God pours out His love and grace on to others who do not know the love of God yet. But, they can through you!

Love and Blessings,

Loretta
