Confession from 1991 verse, Proverbs 3:5-6
Confession from 1991 verse, Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. —Proverbs 3:5–6

As I think about this verse, I remember this confession that I wrote along with several others for this year, 1991, when God gave my mom one of the most important verses in all of scripture. To trust in the Lord always, may seem impossible, but it's certainly something to strive for as often as possible. When I wrote this confession, what really stuck with me was what it looks like to acknowledge God in all ways and the question I was left with was "is this what you have for me?" I will not be afraid to ask this question of God, because I genuinely want to know and I want what He wants for me. It is truly the best thing.

When I wrote this reflection, which is the longest one in the book, I felt like I was deep into these verses and I broke it down in ways that still surprise me. When you get the book, I think you'll understand what I mean.

The other part of this confession I want to highlight is that He will show me the best road to follow. Since this book is called Confessions for the Narrow Road, it is based on this idea that to stay on the narrow road may not be easy, but following God in this way is always more than worth it. He knows the way to take, always, and when I choose to reach out to God and seek Him for guidance; He is always faithful to respond and to meet me right where I am at. I want you to know today that God is there and He is listening. You can trust Him to meet you and to guide you in whatever way you need it. All He desires is that you trust Him and give Him your heart. He will care for it in the most gentle way possible and He'll bring you into Shalom, complete wholeness with nothing missing and nothing broken. Don't you want that today? Maybe you can begin by not being afraid to ask God, "Is this what you have for me or is it something else?"

On another note...

We're getting closer to the release of my book, Confessions for the Narrow Road: a Journey with My Mom. I expect to receive my copies in the next few weeks. Once I approve them, then it will take a couple weeks before it's available on Amazon, which is the best way to get the book. Thank you to everyone who reads this blog and supports me on my journey to launching this book. As Mother's Day approaches, please consider getting a copy of this book to give to your mother and maybe buy one for yourself, so you can go through the book together.

Also, I'll be opening up an opportunity this summer for anyone who wants to go through the devotional with me. I imagine it will be over 4 sessions, lasting 90 minutes each. It will be a time to share your answers to study guide questions, ask any questions of me and I'll also share my experiences with the book, my AHA moments and maybe even some of my answers to the study guide questions. I imagine these conversations to be fun and transformative. There is a cost of $100/session. Be checking the website in the next month for more details and to book your sessions with me.

Blessings,

Loretta
